Day 26: Write about an area in your life that you'd like to improve.
Oh, there are a lot. Aren't there always a lot of things to improve? Personally, I'd like to improve my drawing. I am most certainly a writer by nature, but I used to draw as well. Only lately have I gotten back into drawing after a long hiatus. I took up a drawing pencil again because I am, in truth, a very visual person. Whenever I write, I see that story myself, but sometimes it's easier to explain what I mean if I can show that vision to others as well.
Just recently though, I started drawing more seriously. I've gotten fairly good at what I refer to as "copy and paste" drawing. If I look at a picture, I can copy it really well, and in good detail. I still prefer to do that in pencil though, black and white. Now I'm trying to work on "freehand" drawing. I'm also trying to work with pen and color, in the form of colored pencil. This process overall happens more slowly than I would like.
My goal is to eventually get to the level where I can produce my own stories through a new medium, comics. Lately I've been really into web comics, and I really respects the writers, artists, and writer-artists behind them. The art, as well as the stories, are beautiful. I'm absolutely amazed by the artwork sometimes. I really would be lucky if I could draw like that, so I'm putting in the effort on my end.
- At some point in the near future I'm likely to create a separate post discussing my recent obsession with comics.
